Consists of model stage (actually the underside of the removable sliding lid) and 30 pieces of scenery, including 9 background scenes (23 x 28 cm.).
Some of the background scenes and the figures are after engravings in the Atlas volume of A voyage to the Pacific ocean / by James Cook. London, 1784.

BAC: British Art Center copy includes a manuscript "Description of the panorama" on 8 pages (2 sheets), written in black ink. The first sheet bears an unidentified blind stamp at upper left. It's possible that the text is copied from a printed description, now lost. The descriptions provide straightforward accounts of each of the nine background scenes, e.g., for Scene 1: "A scene in the desert, camels watering in the background near two tombs. 1. The camel.
