Gallery Label:: This view of one of the expedition's encampments was painted while the steamships were being moved from the Syrian coast to the Euphrates. The town of Murad Pasha was one of the transfer stations, or depots, along the way; this was the point at which the cargo was moved from rafts onto wagons and camels.
