Bookplate: Alexander Copland.Proofs for 24 engravings published in: Vitruvius Britannicus, or the British architect, containing plans, elevations, and sections, of the regular buildings both public and private in Great Britain ... / by Woolfe and Gandon architects. Vol. 5. [London] : Woolfe & Gandon, 1771. Also present is one print not published, showing plans of Ragley, Warwickshire, at two different levels. It is from drawings made before the addition of the portico. The plates are all captioned in ink since the proofs did not include the names of the draftsman nor the engraver. In many cases they lack the final details such as keys to the room plans, measurements and decorative details.The proofs correspond to the following plate numbers in the published work: 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 17, 18-19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25-26, 27-28, 36, 37, 39-40, 41-42, 50-51, 52-53, 54-55, 66-67, 68-69, and 88-89 (the conjoined plate numbers represent single prints that extend across facing pages).
