The jug lacks a maker's mark. The Silenus was first manufactured by Minton in 1831. Minton's design for the jug was copied by Mason, Spode, Stephen Green, Doulton & Watts, and Continental companies. The other side depicts a child Silenus, riding a donkey, supported by two young satyrs.
