The image on this block could not be matched to known Bewick engravings of King Richard II, such as those that appear in Goldsmith's History of England (London; 1795) or in Dodsley's Chronicle of the Kings of England (Vernor and Hood). However, the image is similar to Bewick's and other portrayals of Richard II, and the block's provenance is as part of a collection of Bewick blocks at Yale Center for British Art.
