Richard Westall was a British painter, illustrator, and engraver, born on January 2, 1765 in Norfolk. He is known for his portraits of Lord Byron and watercolor book illustrations. He contributed to John Boydell's Shakespeare Gallery and Henry Fuseli's Milton Gallery.Dates of production based on when Westall began an apprenticeship under the engraver John Thompson, after changing professions, in 1779 and when an engraving of Samson Agonistes by Thomas Kirk after Westall was published in 1797.Drawing in graphite based on the tragedy of the same title, Samson Agonistes, by John Milton.
