The son of Peter Mark Roget, of Thesaurus fame, John Lewis Roget continued to revise and expand his father's opus into further editions. In 1879 he penned a critical addendum, with his own etchings, to Turner's Liber studiorum, and later went on to write A history of the "Old Water-Colour Society" (1891), which gives an overview of the main English watercolorists of the eighteenth century.
