Each of the 87 sheets of blank stationery bears a steel-engraved view occupying the top half of the first page. The views have imprint: "Eng. & Pubd. by Newman & Co., 48, Watling Street, London" (with variations in wording). The views depict popular tourist destinations in England and Wales, especially seaside towns. Locations with more than one view represented include: Arundel Castle (2 items), Barmouth (2), Bognor (2), Brighton (25), Deal (5), Hastings (3), Littlehampton (2), Margate (2), Newport (2), Ramsgate (5), Southampton (2), Tunbridge Wells (3), and Worthing (8).With 25 views in the collection, Brighton is by far the most popular subject. Included in the series is a depiction of Grand Hotel, Brighton, built in 1864.Accompanied by two similar sheets of stationery published by E. Adams. These depict "Shakespeare's Cottage" and "Ann Hathaways' Cottage. " The bookseller, stationer, and printer, Edward Adams, was active at Stratford-upon-Avon in the 1850s and 1860s.Accompanied by a contemporary slipcase covered in brown cloth. The stationery may have been issued in the slipcase.
