Notes:
The Grimwades factory opened in 1886, under the directorship of Leonard Lumsden Grimwade. He was soon joined by his brother Sidney, forming Grimwade Brothers, which would later become Grimwades Ltd. The company grew rapidly, its success due in part to the brothers' pioneering techniques; they helped develop a process of lithographic transfer which streamlined and cheapened manufacturing. During the late 1920s, the company started using the trading name Royal Winton, after one of their more successful designs.
