Dedication leaf to part one: To Lieutenant General Francis Dundas, late Lieut. and Acting Governor of the Cape of Good Hope, under whose patronage the materials of the present work were collected, this first part of African scenery and animals is inscribed, with the greatest respect by his most obliged and faithful humble servant, Samuel Daniell.
