Notes:
Fan-shaped cut-paper design that opens out (like the bloom of a flower) to reveal riddles inscribed on each petal-like panel therein. The item is composed of four sheets of paper (each 12 x 12 cm), of varying pale tints of cream, blue, or green--affixed end to end. A pink ribbon is threaded through panels at each end, presumably so that the fan could be tied shut (ribbon ends have since been lost). One exterior panel is inscribed: "Christmas, 1828." The opposite panel is inscribed: "E.S.H. with C.H.E's best love."
