Notes:
Many of the contributors to the volume appear to be related to George Irby, the 3rd Baron Boston, some of them possibly being his children.

Bound in contemporary gilt-tooled dark red leather, with gilt edges.

Manuscript commonplace book containing a collection of epitaphs, elegies, hymns, excerpts from literary works, sonnets, lines of verse, entire poems, and quotations. Entries are written in ink in several hands, with many entries being signed or initialed at the bottom. Names of contributors appear to be primarily members of the Irby family or possibly acquaintances, including Georgina Albinia Irby, Rachel Emily Irby, Charlotte Isabella Irby, Frances Matilda Irby, Augusta Matilda Irby, Frederick Paul Irby, Mary Yorke, and John William Peachy. One entry signed by a "P.A. Irby" may have possibly been written by Adeline Paulina Irby.

The volume also includes drawings in graphite and ink of landscapes and naval scenes, as well as watercolor drawings of flowers, with much of the illustrated content also being signed or initialed by different people.
