A depiction of the toad "Bufo the First" as described in Henry David Thoreau's journal entry of May 1, 1857. The image was also used in: Of woodland pools, spring-holes & ditches : excerpts from the journal of Henry David Thoreau (Lone Oak Press, 2005).
