A composite atlas. Originally published in four volumes, the YCBA copy has been extended to 8 volumes, each supplied with specially written titles and contents sheets. In total, includes 179 separate charts and views (including titles, contents, prefaces and references) extended to 491 separate and distinct issues.

Title and imprint (except date) from title page of the 1777 edition (the 1st edition). Date of publication (1774-1800?) from dates of individual maps.

In a pocket in the front board of vol. 1, part 1, is a copy of Nautical Remarks and Observations on the Coasts and Harbours of Nova Scotia, separately published by Des Barres in 1778.
