As a painter, she has focussed particularly on long-term studies, from English examples, to Italy, where she painted extensively at the Villa La Pietra; as unofficial artist-in-residence at Ian Hamilton Finlay's Little Sparta; and recently as visiting artist at Cow Mead Allotments in Oxford.
