Though best known as an abstract sculptor, Barbara Hepworth made representational figure studies throughout her career, especially in the late 1940s and early 1950s. In many of these drawings the same figure was repeated, either from another angle or with an increasing level of abstraction, as if capturing her thought processes on the page.
