London painter and etcher W.H. Pyne is best known for his guides to drawing figures in landscape, including "Microcosm" and the present work.
18 etched copper plates used in the printing of W.H. Pyne's Etchings of rustic figures. London: R. Ackermann, 1815. (Abbey, J.R. Life 179). Included are plates 1-9, 11, 13, 15-20, and 41. All plates bear the same imprint as the printed leaves in the 1815 work. Plates are variously dated from April 1 to July 1, 1814.
