Bound in original limp red morocco, with gilt edges and marbled endpapers.
Album of illustrations and humorous texts by friends of Isabel Darnbrough of Webster Hill House, Dewsbury. The album opens with a trompe l'oeil title page of a post office telegram reading "To all dear friends. All contributions original or copied thankfully accepted. Bel. Dewsbury. Jly. 14. 04." After the title, there are 14 additional illustrations and several short, light-hearted poems. Among the drawings are three signed Geo. B., two of which are captioned with humorous dialogues; a simple floral sketch, in graphite, signed H. Gotobed; a drawing of cherubs within an elaborate colored floral border, inscribed "à Mlle I. Darnbrough, souvenir amical. Georges, H, Blackburn. Juillet, 1905."; a still life floral watercolor, signed S.A. Barber; three sketches by Ellis Senior (two in pen-and-ink, one in pink wash), including copies of portraits by Van Dyck; a humorous pen-and-ink sketch of a beachside scene, signed H. Thewlis; three drawings by Percival H. Audsley, including two watercolors and a humorous pen-and-ink drawing of a row of suburban houses with human faces under which is written, "People who build their own houses should endeavor to express something of their own personality in the design of the facade."
