"The main route through Essex to Ipswich is described as the Eastern Counties Railway, dating the handkerchief to between 1840 and 1862 (when the Eastern Counties Railway became the Great Eastern Railway)"--Essex Record Office.
Bradshaw & Blacklock published maps with a very similar title circa 1843. The content of Bradshaw & Blacklock maps, however, does not match that of the present map.
The title cartouche depicts a train crossing an unidentified viaduct.
