"In the painting under consideration the late Mr. Devis has represented the persons of those barons who were present at Bury by the portraits of their descendants who are now living; the following notes are intended to explain in what way the affinity exists; and to trace the authorities on which such armorial bearings have been given. The numerals commence with the Baron de Ros who stands nearest to the altar, and proceed towards the right of the picture."--Leaf [2].

Gilt tooled red morocco-style binding; text block edges gilded; pale blue watered silk end-papers.
Preface signed "Thomas Willement Heraldic Artist to the King 1822" at end.
