- John Eames (1686-1744) was a tutor of theology and the natural sciences and friend of Sir Isaac Newton. The 1726 edition of Isaac Watts's treatise on astronomy and geography was dedicated to him, but he is not known to have published any works in his own right. Cf. DNB.

Manuscript fair copy on perspective and spherical projection, followed by a separately foliated section with caption title "Optica", in a different hand. All leaves are ruled in red ink. The text is written on rectos only, with the versos being used for numerous diagrams or annotations. One of the diagrams is on a separate leaf which has been tipped-in.
