Originally published serially in 30 parts, 1839-1840. For binding into two volumes, title pages (both dated 1840) and lists of engravings for vol. 1 and vol. 2 included at end of part 30.
"Plans of publication. A part will be published regularly on the first of every month. Each part will contain four exquisite engravings from original drawings, and eight or twelve pages of historical and descriptive text, drawn from various original sources. The work is also printed in the French language. A volume will be completed in fifteen parts, price two shillings each."--Back wrapper of part 1.
Abbey suggests that the engravings appear to have been colored at a later date. There is no evidence that the book was ever published with colored engravings.
