Notes:
"The prints also contain another form of commentary; a parallel text embedded in the images; a poetic gloss deriving (as does A humument) from W.H. Mallock's A human document, a Victorian novel that is here plundered and 'treated' anew ... the following graphic techniques have been used:-silkscreen, etching, blind intaglio, mezzotint, stone lithography, plate lithography, four colour offset lithography, letterpress, plus various combinations of these with occasional hand additions ... Each canto uses three sheets (i.e. twelve pages) ... [and] has a thematic frontispiece and three images"--Dante's Inferno (Waddington Galleries, 1983), Introduction.
"Printed on ... mould-made Inveresk paper (Somerset-type) made and tinted to the artist's own specification and incorporating his own signature as the watermark."--Colophon.
Colophon signed and numbered by Phillips in pencil, and each illustration initialed by him.
In clamshell boxes. "All the bindings for the Talfourd Press were designed and executed by Pella Erskine-Tulloch."--Colophon.
