The board consists of a hand-colored engraved sheet mounted in 12 sections on a single sheet of linen, folded correspondingly into 12 panels; 115 medallions in pink, yellow, blue, and green, grouped by continent in five concentric tracks, lead out from the center medallion; medallions with sketch maps of the four continents separate the four sets of numbered medallions; the end of a player's journey, "The Return to Europe" (see booklet p. 11), is a medallion containing a large pink fleur-de-lys above the map of Europe, marked "116 Game." Played with a tetotum & counters, not issued with the game.
Instruction booklet has title page: Rules and directions for playing Geographical recreation, or, A voyage round the habitable world : a new game exhibiting the manners, customs, and dresses of the various nations of Europe, Asia, Africa and America : to which is appended a synopsis of geography. London : Printed for J. Harris, Juvenile Library, corner of St. Paul's Church Yard, 1809. [Printed by H. Bryer, Bridge-Street, Blackfriars, London].
Rule booklet contains publisher's advertisements for "interesting and amusing games" on p. [1]-[2] of first sequence; pages [1]-[5] at end contain additional John Harris advertisements for books.
Rule booklet issued in gray green wrappers; engraved title label affixed to upper wrapper has title "Rules and directions for playing the game Geographical recreation" within oval cartouche.
