Notes:
This third volume of Fowler's work consists of 27 unnumbered plates. Plate [1] is a dedication "To ... Sir Joseph Banks ..." (repeated from the first two volumes) and [2-27] show stained glass, tessellated pavements, architectural details, etc. The publication-lines are dated between 1810 and 1824 (some further plates were evidently issued later). The plates were also available separately, and letterpress prospectuses were printed for some of the individual prints. In some cases, examples of some at least of these prospectuses were inserted into copies of the volume described here, following the plates they describe.
In this volume some of the plates are after drawings by Fowler's son Joseph.
The title is taken from the first general prospectuses printed for the work in 1804. The imprint is taken from the plate publication-lines, which appear on most plates.
When issued, each plate was protected with a tissue guard.
