- Cyril James Swanne (1891-1928) served in the 15th Battalion Royal Warwickshire Regiment of the British Army. The regiment landed at Boulogne-sur-Mer in November 1915 for service on the Western Front. It moved to Italy in November, 1917, and back to France in April, 1918.

The drawings provide a record, often humorous, of Cyril Swanne's infantry service during the First World War. Most drawings are captioned and initialled.
