Title information is hand-written on a cardboard tag. On the reverse of the tag is printed: "Royal Opera House. Made by the [L. & P.] department of The Royal Opera House."
"The poppies were made for 11/11/18 at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London. I was working with a couple of other artists to 'upcycle' materials from the ROH which had outlived their usefulness. I was working in particular with old programmes and Opera scores -- these had been used for rehearsals, but either the binding had broken or a page was missing or something. I had made several prototypes of items that could be made from these materials, and then devised workshops which members of the public could participate in, on a 'month of Sundays' at the opera House. In order to decorate the new public spaces of the ROH for Remembrance Sunday, Jillian Barker commissioned me to make some 30 poppies, white and red from upcycled programmes and music scores. These were displayed in the foyers ..."--Email from the artist, 2019.
