- The International Exhibition of 1862, or Great London Exposition, was held from May 1 to November 1, 1862, beside the gardens of the Royal Horticultural Society, in South Kensington, London. The buildings were designed by Captain Francis Fowke.

Sixty hand-painted white metal die-cast figures and pieces reproducing buildings, grounds, and visitors at the International Exhibition of London, 1862. There are 16 pieces for the exhibition building, 3 trees, a woman pushing a pram, 3 equestrian figures, 4 couples, 2 men with children, 1 woman with child, 2 children, 15 single men, and 10 single women (one playing a harp). There are also two items that appear forms of transport rather than exhibits, one a railway carriage, and the other a Far Eastern carriage drawn by two animals. Each of the pieces has a support at lower corners. allowing them to stand as an independent piece.
The original wooden box includes a sliding lid carrying the title label. It bears a hand-colored lithographic view depicting the exhibition building and grounds, with numerous visitors. The rim of the box is decorated with gilt ornamental strips. - Subject Terms:
