Album of 30 specimens of seaweed, compiled by an unidentified collector, presumably British. The sheets of specimens are gathered together within the two parts of white scallop shell, which, with green silk ribbon, has been rendered as a binding, the natural hinge of the shell serving as the spine of the volume. The sheets bearing the seaweed specimens are cut to match the outline of the shell.
The scientific name (genus and species) is noted for each seaweed specimen, in black ink. There are multiple specimens for a number of species.
