Mathematical manuscript, with a strong emphasis on practical land surveying and the mensuration of solids, presumably made by John Pendleton while learning the art of geometry and surveying. The manuscript provides no clues to the identification of Pendleton, nor to the circumstances of its production. The text is written in a neat and legible hand, with minimally calligraphic headings. It includes numerous calculations and diagrams, including 17 full-page or near full-page surveying diagrams, most of which are heightened with colored wash -- four with red and yellow borders.
