"In vein uses the vein of leaves and the human body as its central theme. The book is arranged as a series of visual and textural 'poems', using original collagraphs, embossed, etched and relief prints as well as digital re workings and developments of these prints to expand the narrative. The elongated portrait format of the book and the placing of images within this structure are designed to echo the arterial nature of veins. The use of deeply etched and intensely textural, embossed and printed collagraphs continue the arterial theme in the contrasting surface textures. Different papers, many transparent and delicate are used to convey the idea of, on and below the surface, like skin."--Artist's website.
"'In vein' is made in a limited edition of handmade books, incorporating slight variations in the use of original prints and the individuality and intimacy of the 'hand made'."--Artist's website.
"Etchings, collagraphs and digital prints on Somerset and handmade papers. Oil based print and archival digital inks." Inside back cover.
