Title continues: "The said house, &c. may be view'd every day (Sunday excepted) to the hour of same, which will begin each day at half and hour after eleven precisely, by all persons who shall produce a catalogue of these materials. Catalogues may be had at Grigsby's Coffee-House behind the Royal Exchange; at Mr. Cock's, in the Great Piazza, Covent-Garden; at the White Hart, in Watford; the Three Pigeons, in Brentford; and at either of the lodges leading up to Cannons, from Stanmore, or Edgeware. N.B. in the first day's sale will be sold, the gardens and pasture land, round the said house, being freehold, in four lots, containing 415 acres, agreeable to the plan which may be seen at the said house, or at Mr. Cock's, with the conditions of the sale. For Cannons gratis."
"Although Cannons became a wonder of the age, it was short-lived. On 6 May 1747, three years after Brydges's death, the contents of the house were sold. His collection of pictures, which included works by Sir Peter Lely, the Teniers family and Peter Paul Rubens, was dispersed, along with Joseph Goupy's copies of the Raphael Cartoons and the chapel's decorative paintings and fittings. Two works, by Gerrit Dou and Willem van Mieris, were acquired by Richard, 7th Viscount Fitzwilliam. The house itself was destroyed soon after the sale."--Oxford Art Online.
