Bound in gilt-tooled morocco. The front pastedown bears the gilt-stamped leather owner's label of "S. Sharpe."
Album of prints, drawings, and verse, probably compiled by "S. Sharpe," circa 1837. The album is primarily comprised of early 19th-century engravings, some perhaps excerpted from contemporary books (such as literary annuals). They include genre prints, historical prints; marine prints; portrait prints; and women of the stage, including "Jenny Lind, Swedish Nightingale" and "Miss Fanny Kemble as Euphrasia." A smaller number of lithographs (of the same subjects) are also present. A small percentage of each are hand-colored. There is one medal engraving. The most unusual print is a hand-colored lithograph of what appears to be a woman playing a man in woman's costume, possibly a portrait of Sarah Louisa Fairbrother. Also present are a handful of watercolor drawings, including compositions of birds, shells and algae, and botanical illustrations. There are about five poems interspersed, copied in manuscript, in pen and black ink.
