The "Pictorial Writing of Mexico" is a copy of a print by Agostino Aglio of the Codex Mendoza, in Antiquities of Mexico, volume 1.

Some copies bound in original black embossed papier maché boards with title "The history of writing" in the center of the floral design on front and back covers. What appears to be red flocked paper is visible under the papier maché. Title "The history of writing" in gilt on leather spine.
