Handwritten text below the watercolor: "Camp 4. Mile 98. Boucher Beach looking NNW upriver. 14 June. No clouds in 4 days. A long series of big rapids Boucher Beach is my favorite site. I have painted here 4 times before. This 5th attempt a catastrophe. Back to camp dejected. 15 June. To my site by moonlight + wait for dawn to start again. The basics successful by breakfast. Phew!"
